ITMS Uganda Joins Joe Walker Remembrance Relay: Walking for Safer Roads
Kampala, Uganda — November 15, 2025 — The Intelligent Transport Monitoring System (ITMS) Uganda is proud to announce its full partner support for the Joe Walker 60KM Remembrance Relay 2025, a powerful national event dedicated to honoring lives lost on Uganda’s roads and rallying the country toward safer, smarter mobility.
"This is not just a walk — it’s a movement," said Beyanga. "We remember the parents, children, and friends whose journeys were cut short by speeding, reckless overtaking, and unchecked vulnerabilities on our roads. But we also walk forward — urging every Ugandan to embrace caution, compliance, and community. With partners like ITMS Uganda, we are equipping this movement with the tools for lasting impact."
As part of its partnership with the Joe Walker 60KM Remembrance Relay 2025, ITMS Uganda reaffirmed its commitment to saving lives beyond the road by presenting a dummy cheque of UGX 10 million to Mulago National Referral Hospital.
This contribution will go toward acquiring essential emergency medical equipment from a pre-approved list, aimed at strengthening the hospital’s capacity to respond to road crash victims. Following the event, ITMS Uganda, in collaboration with Joe Walker (Joseph Beyanga) and the relay team, will facilitate the purchase and handover of this equipment directly to the hospital.
"ITMS commitment to road safety doesn’t end with technology — it extends to the lives that technology aims to protect," said Devota Ingabire, IT specialist of Intelligent Transport Monitoring System."
Along with the partnership and supporting the event, the ITMS team of 12 employees will be walking over 60 kilometers around Kampala streets.
"Every day, Uganda loses an average of 14 lives to road crashes," said a spokesperson for ITMS Uganda. "At ITMS, we are committed to transforming these statistics into stories of prevention through advanced technology and responsible driving. The Joe Walker Remembrance Relay aligns perfectly with our mission: to foster a mindset from reaction to proactive protection."
Joe Walker, founder of the Remembrance Relay, applauded ITMS’s gesture: "This partnership is a model of action-driven compassion. ITMS isn’t just walking for awareness — they’re walking by investing in lifesaving capacity where it’s needed most. The donation marks a tangible outcome of the 2025 relay’s mission — turning remembrance into recovery, advocacy into action."
The Joe Walker campaign, led by road safety advocate Joseph Beyanga (Joe Walker), continues to amplify awareness and action around Uganda’s road safety crisis.
